Professional Training Services for Parent-Child Interaction Therapy with Toddlers

As the field of infant mental health continues to grow, the developers of PCIT-Toddlers are keenly aware that the training need for clinicians will be varied. Therefore, three various training tracks to develop competency in delivery of PCIT-Toddlers are outlined from Girard et. al (2018).

Training Requirements for PCIT-Toddlers:

1.) PCIT standard trained clinicians (all competencies completed) seeking additional training to implement adaptation of PCIT-Toddlers

a.) Required 2-day training provided by a PCIT-T developer (Girard, Wallace, Kohlhoff, Morgan or McNeil) and/or authorized PCIT-T trainer as approved by the PCIT-T developers

b.) Case consultation with a PCIT-T trainer through delivery of 2 completed PCIT-T cases including both CDI-T and PDI-T portions of treatment via a live trainer model and/or tele-health and/or telephone contact, dependent on status of PCIT-T trainer, which begins post 2-day training through duration of PCIT-T delivery through graduation of cases

2.) Clinicians seeking both PCIT standard training and PCIT-Toddlers training

a.) Required 5 day Training Requirements for Certification as a standard PCIT Therapist per PCIT-International, see "PCIT International Certified Therapist Requirements" for most current guidelines and/or meet all training competencies required by UC Davis PCIT Training Center (Urquiza, Zebell, Timmer, & McGrath, 2015), see "UC Davis PCIT Competencies for Therapists" for most current guidelines

c.) Case consultation with a PCIT-T trainer through delivery of 2 completed PCIT-T cases including both CDI-T and PDI-T portions of treatment via a live trainer model and/or tele-health and/or telephone contact, dependent on status of PCIT-T trainer, which begins post 2-day training through duration of PCIT-T delivery through graduation of cases

3.) Clinicians seeking only PCIT-Toddlers training

a.) Required 5-day training provided by a PCIT-I certified trainer (i.e., Master Trainer, Level 2 Trainer or Level 1 Trainer) who is also a PCIT-T developer (Girard, Wallace, Kohlhoff, Morgan or McNeil) and/or authorized PCIT-T trainer as approved by the PCIT-T developers

b.) Case consultation with a PCIT-T trainer through delivery of 2 completed PCIT-T cases including both CDI-T and PDI-T portions of treatment via a live trainer model and/or tele-health and/or telephone contact, dependent on status of PCIT-T trainer, which begins post 2-day training through duration of PCIT-T delivery through graduation of cases
